How Spray Foam Insulation Yonkers Works

Spray Foam Insulation Yonkers insulates and air seals houses in Yonkers and the towns and villages around it in southern Westchester. Most of what we see here is older: Victorian and prewar frame houses on the hills of northwest Yonkers, brick and frame two-families near the Saw Mill and Bronx River valleys, Tudor and Colonial Revival homes in Bronxville, Scarsdale, Pelham and Larchmont, and postwar Capes, splits and ranches in Ardsley, Eastchester and the north end of Yonkers. We spray open-cell and closed-cell foam, blow in cellulose and fiberglass, dense-pack closed walls, and take out old insulation that is wet, matted, rodent-damaged or simply in the way.

Every job starts with a visit. We go into the attic and look at the kneewalls, hatch and any finished rooms under the roof. We go down to the basement to see the sill plate and rim joist. Where we can, we check the walls through outlets, closets or an opening you are already making. We note what insulation is there, how deep it is and what shape it is in, and we look for the things that change the plan: roof leaks, damp foundation walls, knob-and-tube wiring, open chimney chases and bath fans that vent into the attic instead of outdoors.

Then we write it down. The quote lists each area separately with the material, the thickness or depth, the target R-value and the price. If blown-in insulation over careful air sealing would do the job for less than foam, the quote says so. If two approaches would both work, you see both and decide.

How we work

  • Look first, price second. No number until someone has been in the space.
  • Seal before we insulate. Top plates, plumbing and wiring holes, flues and rim joists get sealed before new insulation hides them.
  • Right material for the spot. Closed-cell where moisture or limited depth is the issue, open-cell where filling a cavity and stopping air is the goal, loose fill where depth is cheap.
  • Protect the house. Floors and belongings are covered, the work area is closed off and ventilated, and we tell you when it is safe to be back inside after spraying.
  • No surprises. Work starts after you approve the written quote, and any change is agreed in writing first.

Who calls us

Owners of prewar houses with cold rooms, drafty stairwells and hot top floors. Buyers whose home inspection flagged thin attic insulation or a bare rim joist. Families finishing a basement or turning an attic into a bedroom who want the insulation right before the drywall goes up. Owners of two-family houses who want the whole building to heat evenly. If that sounds like your house, call (914) 785-6679 or send the form.
